New buildings will move employees out of rented office space
Swiss pharma major Roche plans to spend CHF3 billion (£2 billion) over the next 10 years on redeveloping its headquarters in Basel. The new buildings will mean fewer of Roche’s Basel-based staff will be distributed in rented offices around the city.
A new animal research facility is planned for completion in 2018. That will be followed by an R&D centre that will provide lab and office space for 1900 employees. A separate new office building will have space for up to 1700 more staff. Both are scheduled for completion between 2021 and 2022. The rest of the cash will be spent on upgrading existing buildings and infrastructure.
