Gowan will acquire Dow’s entire dinitroaniline herbicide portfolio
Dow Chemical is selling a portion of its herbicide business to Gowan, a private crop protection firm from Arizona, for an undisclosed sum.
Dow says the move allows its pesticide and seed unit, Dow AgroSciences, to ‘focus its resources on new innovation to benefit customers’. The deal follows recent legal action by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to halt approval of Dow’s Enlist Duo herbicide combination.
Dow will sell to Gowan its portfolio of dinitroaniline weedkillers, which came on the market in the 1960s. The deal also includes a Dow formulation and packaging facility in Alberta, Canada.
