Fatal explosion at chemical plant in Austria

An explosion has left one contractor dead and another seriously injured at a chemicals plant in Krems, Austria, operated by Krems Chemie Chemical Services.

The blast happened as the two men were performing cutting work on a tank on 5 May, and destroyed around half of the building, according to local news reports. The injured man was airlifted to Vienna, while the second man was found dead at the scene.

The company is investigating the cause of the explosion.
