€3.2bn deal boosts Henkel’s position in North American laundry care market
German consumer product company Henkel has agreed to buy laundry detergent specialist Sun Products from private equity firm Vestar Capital Partners. The deal will significantly strengthen Henkel’s presence in the North American laundry care market, bringing several successful detergent and fabric softener brands.
The deal values Sun at $3.2 billion (£2.7 billion), including Sun’s outstanding debt. Sun was formed in 2008 when Huish Detergents (owned by Vestar) acquired Unilever’s North American laundry care business.
