Well, this article had to be written but, as other have already pointed out, I think it'll age really really bad. I understand the point of view that the author is trying to present, but I also think it tells more about our human biases towards AI than to the specific problem he's writing about.

AI is so new in our lives, that we need to gain some intuition about how it affects scientific progress. After all, a couple of years ago I would have said that protein folding is a NP-complete problem, hence impossible to solve. Now I think that what we should be opened to accept is that what is really limited actually is our current understanding of how AI can handle NP-complete problems, and not necessarily the particular details of protein structure, and function, and drug discovery.
