Join us for this hour-long webinar – broadcast on 20 November – for a brief introduction to benchtop NMR spectroscopy as a technique, and an overview of the wide range of applications now enabled by having a fully tuneable broadband instrument in the laboratory. Using spectra collected on the X-Pulse Broadband Benchtop NMR Spectrometer, our speakers from Oxford Instruments demonstrate a wide range of NMR active nuclei going beyond just protons, fluorine-19 and carbon-13, commonly used by benchtop instruments; including phosphorus-31, lithium-7, boron-11 and nitrogen-15. To do so, they will also cover a wide range of applications across chemical R&D, teaching, and QC/QA, from industries including batteries, pharmaceuticals, and fundamental research.

By watching this webinar, you will:

  • Understand benchtop NMR spectroscopy as an analytical technique
  • Learn the benefits and drawbacks of benchtop NMR spectroscopy in industrial and research environments
  • Be introduced to a range of NMR active nuclei and understand the similarities and differences between them
  • Learn the benefits of having a modular and upgradeable broadband benchtop NMR spectrometer such as the X-Pulse

Robin Blagg

Robin joined Oxford Instruments as the lead applications scientist for the X-Pulse broadband benchtop NMR spectrometry; and was subsequently promoted to applications team leader, where he now coordinates the global Magnetic Resonance applications team. Robin completed his first degree at the University of  York, UK, a PhD in organometallic chemistry at the University of Bristol, UK, and then undertook post-doctoral research at the Universities of Sussex, Manchester, and East Anglia, before joining Oxford Instruments in October 2020. Robin is a Chartered Chemist, a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and serves on the committee of the RSC NMR Discussion Group.
